Has claimed to be the only person to have performed sex on film in the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s (although his earliest films were silent stag loops and it is unclear if, in fact, he began participating in such films before 1970.
Studied drama at Baylor College in Waco, Texas.
Was an only child. His father worked for a paper box manufacturing company and moved his family 13 times before Eric entered college.
In June 1999, “Linda Alexander” published (through www.pulpless.com) a biography of “Eric Edwards” entitled “Dorothy from Kansas Meets the Wizard of X.” The book is largely based on her interviews with Eric and his friends during 1989-1990.
Eric entered a scholarship competition from ABC-TV. Out of 24,000 entrants, only 16–including Edwards–received two-year scholarships through the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. For his audition he played a part from “The Taming of the Shrew”, a role he’s been unable to master in real life, and earned a scholarship to the Academy. After graduating from the Academy in 1967 and receiving his diploma from the hand of actress Helen Hayes, he signed with the William Morris Agency (under his real name of Rob Everett). He did “straight” acting over the next eight years, performing regularly on stage at summer stock programs around the country and appearing in commercials for Gillette, Coleco Toys, Close-Up toothpaste and other products.
[Why he switched to editing porn instead of acting in it] I gave up acting for the sake of my kids.
